uTest is a privately held, venture-backed company based in Ashland, MA.
uTest provides a Global Marketplace for Software Application Testing. We provide software companies with QA testing by a community of professional testers over a robust hosted application testing platform.
The uTest testing platform is all Web-based - accessible anywhere, anytime, from any computer screen by customers and testers. It enables application vendors to load/publish their application, test scripts and testing information to the secure uTest Testing Platform. The interface is easy to use and allows companies to select individual testers, a community of testers, self manage QA cycles, projects, and testing processes
Any company requiring QA services for consumer-type applications (i.e. Web, Desktop, Mobile, etc.). The company can determine a pre-set budget and can start/freeze a project at its discretion.
Once a testing project is "registered" by the company Testing Manager, testers will be selected based on a "Tester Profile" which includes the following characteristics:
No. uTest is designed to complement your existing testing services without changing your testing methodology. You can add uTest as another testing cycle, during peak period, special environments, and much more.
No. You do not need to change or add anything to work with uTest. We believe the testing should be performed to reflect "real world" behavior.
uTest operates on a pay-per-bug business model. Bug cost is determined by "Bug Classification"(i.e. UI, Functional, Technical), "Bug Severity" (i.e. high, medium, low), and Release Duration.
The company Testing Manager has final say on "approved" and "rejected" bugs.
The classifications of bugs are defined as follows:
GUI - Bug associated with the presentation layer. example : alignment, typos, button presentation, coloring etc.
Functional - Bug affecting the functional flow of the application or unexpected/illogical application behavior (end result differs from expected result) . Examples : searching returns wrong results, no field validation in forms, clicking on next page does not bring the next page etc.
Technical - Error produced or malfunction of the application. examples: error when presenting a page, JavaScript error , application crashes etc.
More bugs type will be added as we progress.
No. The company Testing Manager will be notified of any duplicate bugs and will reject those as adding no value. Rejected bugs have no cost associated to them.
